
Eratupetta (Kottayam): For the first time an Indian has been elected as a minister in an Australian local government. Jinson Anto Charles of Punnathani at Munnilav in Kottayam has become the Northern Territory Minister. Jinson is in charge of the Department of Disability, Arts and Culture.
He is also the nephew of Pathanamthitta MP Anto Antony. Jinson won from the Sanderson constituency in Australia's Northern Territory. He is a representative of the Liberal Party. Jinson, who came to Australia in 2011, is currently the director of Top End Mental Health for the Northern Territory Government and a lecturer at Charles Darwin University.
He is also the former president of Darwin Malayali Association. His wife is Anupriya, a native of Chalakudy, who works as a clinical consultant at Top End Mental Health in Darwin. Amy Caitlin Jinson and Anna Isabel Jinson are children. Jinson Anto Charles is the son of Charles Antony and Daisy Charles of Punnathani.
