Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds in Kerala from April 15 to 18. Strong winds at 30 to 40 kmph are expected. Also, summer rains will intensify by April 20. Heavy rain is expected in the Western Ghats of the state.
Kerala received 121 percent extra summer rainfall so far this year, according to a senior IMD scientist RK Janamani. 121 percent extra summer rainfall is higher than normal.
Parallelly, the meteorological department has informed that there is no barrier to fishing in the coastal areas of Lakshadweep, Kerala and Karnataka. The alert was issued by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority.
