This initiative encourages empathy by replacing traditional books with real people sharing personal stories of social prejudice, marginalization, or unique life experiences.

Palakkad: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Regional Coordinating Institute (UBA RCI) based at IIT Palakkad has issued a call for volunteers to act as "Human Books" for an upcoming Human Library session planned at the campus in October 2026.
The international project fosters open dialogue and mutual empathy by allowing visitors to interact directly with people from varied walks of life rather than reading traditional literature. Individuals aged 18 and over who wish to discuss personal accounts involving social prejudice, stigma, marginalisation, or distinct life pathways through one-on-one dialogues are invited to apply. Successful candidates will complete a short induction session prior to the gathering.
Prospective volunteers should submit a concise outline containing a self-introduction, an account of their experience, and their motivation for joining to kottai.psy@gmail.com, or reach out to Prabhulladas R on 9746074080 or Dr Sudarshan R. Kottai on 8547535880 by 17 August 2026.
