Palakkad Kasaba police recorded statements and have launched an investigation, but the assailant has not yet been identified.

Palakkad: A female student at IIT Palakkad was seriously injured after being struck on the head by an unknown assailant on Monday.
The student was initially taken to a hospital in Walayar and later admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore for further treatment. The incident happened inside the IIT campus on Monday night at around 8:30 PM.

The victim, a fourth-year student from Selathur, Ashwani (23), was attacked from behind while walking. She sustained injuries to her head and neck. Fellow students who came across the injured girl immediately alerted the IIT authorities and took her to the hospital.

Meanwhile, students staged a protest on campus over the security lapse. Around 200 students participated in the demonstration demanding enhanced safety measures.
