Kozhikode: The Human Rights Commission has filed a case against the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for lack of facilities and unavailability of workers and doctors, even after a recent increase in the number of casualties due to wild animal attacks.
State Human Rights Commission acting Chairperson and Judicial Member K Baijunath has ordered the health department to examine and produce a report within three weeks. The Human Rights Commission has taken action as per reports and information received through newspapers.
More than 3000 people visit the hospital from various districts, but the hospital’s ratio of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, etc. per patient is very low. There is also a shortage of doctors in the emergency department. The nurses are protesting against the overburden of working hours. The case will be considered during the March sitting.
