Kochi: Young Malayali entrepreneur Shruti Shibulal-led hotel-resort company, Tamara Leisure Experiences, is planning to expand its wings.

Shruti said she is planning to open a resort under the name 'Tamara’ at Alappuzha's Muhamma and a hotel with 44 rooms under the Lilac Brand in Kannur. The property at Muhamma, with 12 rooms and 37 houseboats, will have two spa boats and one dining boat. Shruti, the founder and CEO of Tamara Leisure Experiences, also shared that both of these new additions will be readied by 2026.

Currently, the company has eight properties in South India under the brand names Tamara Resort, O By Tamara Hotel and Lilac Hotel Company. Three of these are in Kerala– O by Tamara in Thiruvananthapuram, Amal Tamara Ayurvedic Resort in Alappuzha and Lilac Hotel in Guruvayur.

She is planning to start new projects in Alappuzha, Kannur, Kumbakonam, Velankanni (Tamil Nadu) and Bodh Gaya (Bihar) as well. Not just restricted to India, Shruti is also aiming to start a resort in Bhutan, for which she has already purchased land there. 

Her company moves with a vision of developing tourism without negatively impacting the environment. She is the daughter of Infosys co-founder S D Shibulal.
