Idukki: Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan has been granted license for his resort at Chinnakanal. The license was granted on September 7.
Since a Homestay permit is allotted to the resort, Kuzhalnadan will gain tax exemption. The establishment had been functioning on a resort license granted by the panchayat since 2022. However, this expired in March 2023. It was then that the MLA applied for a homestay license.

The resort was earlier embroiled in controversy when allegations arose that Kuzhalnadan was using his residential property at Chinnakanal as a resort in blatant violation of the Kerala Land Assignment Rules.
The MLA, on the other hand, reasserted that land conversion rules were not violated when he purchased the plot in Chinnakanal. Kuzhalandan claimed that his “resort was functioning adhering to all the existing rules and regulations.”
