
Kozhikode: Vilangad, the hilly area of Kozhikode district which has been devastated by the recent landslides, received heavy rain again on Tuesday early morning. Following this, many families in Manjacheeli were relocated under the leadership of locals. The families were shifted to the Parish Hall and Vilangad St. George School.
The rain started in the region on Tuesday morning, inundating the Vilangad town bridge again. Vehicle traffic has come to a complete standstill. It is learned that it is raining heavily even in the forest in the area.
On July 30, a major landslide occurred in Vilangad, following which 18 families lost homes completely. About 80 houses were partially damaged in the disaster.
Kulathinkal Mathew, a native of Manjacheeli and a former teacher, had died in the tragedy. Mathew's body was found after two days of searching.
