Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac welcomed the High Court order recognizing the power of the state government to bring an ordinance to defer the salary of government employees for coronavirus relief works.
The service organizations of opposition had approached the court complaining that the government ordinance was illegal.
“We were also expecting the order in favour of the government. Some politicians are researching on how to create issues in COVID-19 prevention. They should stay away from such activities,” said the minister.
“There is no doubt that the number of COVID-19 patients in the state will be reduced. The number will turn to an odd number soon. But the real fight is yet to begin. People will return to Kerala from the hotspots. There will be more trouble in the coming days. Rather than fighting this pandemic as a group in Kerala, some politicians are engaged in dividing the people. Those who moved an appeal against the High Court order are engaged in such actions to disturb the society,” added the minister.
