New Delhi: The central government said that they had requested Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) to submit the 'Techno-Economic Feasibility Report' concerning the Sabarimala airport. The current status of the project was shared by MoS VK Singh in reply to a query raised by John Brittas MP in Rajya Sabha.

Earlier, KSIDC's proposal for the airport was examined by the central government after holding a meeting with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Defense, Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Following this, KSIDC submitted a draft of the 'Techno-Economic Feasibility Report'. The minister added the final report was sought on the basis of AAI's and DGCA's observations.

The Sabarimala airport is planned to be constructed at Cheruvally Estate in Kottayam district. A parliamentary committee chaired by BJP MP TG Venkatesh had recently given the final approval for construction of the airport. Following this, the central government has asked KSIDC to submit the final report.
