Vengappally: The Haritha Karama Sena in Vengapally Grama Panchayat has issued a show cause notice to Aamina, a resident of ward 8 in the panchayat, for not handing over plastic waste and fee to the volunteers. As per the notice issued, legal action will be initiated against the woman if she fails to respond within seven days.
Aamina is a loner. She neither has a husband, nor children, or any relatives. She has been living in a temporary makeshift shed covered with plastic sheets for the past 25 years. She spends her nights in the neighbouring houses. The lone woman is supported by the localities.
Aamina alleged that the panchayat officials had discarded her application for a proper house earlier citing technical reasons. She wondered how the same authorities who are well aware of her situation could now send her a notice demanding plastic waste and fees from her.
Meanwhile, Panchayat president EK Renuka responded to the issue saying that the “Haritha Karma Sena volunteers were just doing their duties.” She also ensured a humanitarian approach in the case of Aamina.
