Kozhikode: According to the Kerala State Haj Committee chairman, C Muhammed Faizi, out of a total of 19,524 applications for the Hajj pilgrimage this year, 10,331 pilgrims have been selected. The selected pilgrims include 1,430 applicants who are above 70 years of age, 2,807 women, and 6,094 applicants who fall under the general category.
The hajj pilgrimage will commence from the embarkation points- Kochi, Kannur and Karipur airports. As many as 6322 pilgrims will start their journey from Karipur, while 1796 and 2213 passengers will board flights from Kannur and Kochi respectively.
The haj committee will conduct training sessions for the hajj pilgrims in all districts. Minister V Abdurahman will inaugurate the training classes at PM Auditorium in Kottakkal on April 24.
The district medical officers have been directed to supervise the Covid vaccination sessions for the selected pilgrims, as many of them have not yet received their second dose of the vaccine.
