Guruvayur–Thiruvananthapuram Intercity Express upgraded with modern LHB coaches for smoother, faster and more comfortable travel. New timings for passenger trains announced.

Guruvayur( Kerala): Travel on the Guruvayur–Thiruvananthapuram Intercity Express will now be far more comfortable. All the coaches have been converted to the modern type LHB (Link Hoffmann Busch). These are stainless steel LHB coaches built using German technology. Earlier, they were Indian-made ICF (Integral Coach Factory) coaches. Their appearance and colour have changed completely.
The coaches are lighter in weight. They make less noise while running, and there is no jerking. The trains can travel at higher speeds. Their braking system is equipped with more advanced technology, so it is sufficient to apply the brakes only 500 metres before the station where the train needs to stop. With older coaches, braking had to begin a kilometre in advance. Another special feature is that when negotiating sharp curves, the train automatically adjusts its speed without the driver needing to slow down manually.
The Intercity had a total of 20 coaches. They were reduced to 18, and the length and facilities of each coach were increased. The length of the train, which was 22 meters, has been increased to 24 meters. All the seats have been redesigned. The toilet facilities are also claimed to be excellent.
The Intercity Express will depart from Guruvayur at 3.20 am every day, and will return at 12.30 pm.
Time change for two passenger trains
The passenger train that used to leave Guruvayur for Thrissur at 9.15 am has been changed to 9.30 am. The Ernakulam passenger train scheduled for 1.30 pm has been changed five minutes earlier.
