Guruvayur: The administrative committee of Guruvayur Devaswom decided to put up the Mahindra Group gifted brand new SUV limited edition of Thar for auction again, following an order released by the commissioner of Devaswom.
Alleging violations of Devaswom rules, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh had approached the court to halt the procedures of the first auction of the vehicle. In response to the petition, the court had directed the Devaswom to conduct a hearing of the complainants. The decision to conduct a fresh auction was derived after the Devaswom commissioner heard the arguments of the petitioner last month.
Mahindra Group had presented the Thar jeep as gift to the famed Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple on December 4. When the auction was announced, only one bidder Amal Mohammed Ali whose agent Subhash Panicker had come for the auction. Panicker put his bid at Rs 15,10,000, which was Rs 10,000 higher than the fixed price.
