Guruvayur witnesses 187 weddings on the auspicious Thulam day, with mandapams managing large crowds and devotees flocking for ceremonies.

Guruvayur (Thrissur): The arrival of the Malayalam month of Thulam saw a flurry of weddings at the temple town, with 187 marriages conducted on Sunday, traditionally considered an auspicious day for weddings. Thulam is regarded as the busiest month for weddings after Chingam.
Wedding ceremonies began at 5 am, with five mandapams arranged to accommodate the large number of couples. By 8 am, 100 weddings had already taken place. At Kizhakkenadappura, organisers managed the crowd effectively, ensuring the rush of guests remained orderly. However, the south side of the Melpathur auditorium experienced significant congestion. Guests were issued tokens and allowed to enter the mandapams in a controlled manner.
Officials noted that additional facilities on the south side would help brides, grooms, and their families access the mandapams more smoothly. After the ceremonies, the area near the Koovalam tree in Thekkanenadappura became another hotspot for bridal photography, drawing crowds so dense that devotees struggled to move through the area.
