Kozhikode: A goon attack against police was reported in Kozhikode town on Tuesday. The incident took place around 12.20 am on Tuesday.

Stones were pelted against the patrolling jeep of the Town Police at Oyitty Road here. The glasses of the jeep were shattered in the attack and civil police officer Jaison was injured.

The police had noted two people running away to hide during the patrol. Following this. The ASI and Home Guard who were in the jeep chased them. In between stones were pelted at the jeep.

In the past few days, police had nabbed various drugs, robbery gangs in town. Frequent raids and surveillance are also conducted aiming a check on anti-social activities under CI Umesh and SI KT Bijith.

Action was taken against those arriving in search of transgenders at night. The attack comes in close on the heels of this.

CI said that investigation is underway based on CCTV visuals and the accused will be nabbed soon.
