New Delhi: Historian Prof Irfan Habib took a dig at Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan here on Tuesday while reacting to the latter’s allegations against him on the other day.

“It was good that he didn’t mention I was armed,” Habib told Mathrubhumi News responding to Khan‘s allegations against him related to the Indian History Congress event held at Kannur University in 2019.

Habib pointed out that visuals of the alleged heckling were captured on camera and the media also reported it.

“Governor will have a protocol. However, the governor did not abide by the protocol of the Indian History Congress event. Governor did not realise that he is addressing historians and not Muslim League. I just reminded him,” he said.

Habib said that he is clueless why the governor is targetting him and added that being a communist in India is not a crime. 

" I won't sue Khan over his allegations against me. But I will do a citizen’s duty if I am booked,” declared the historian.
