Thiruvananthapuram: Gold smuggling case accused Sandeep Nair stated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials threatened him to give statement against the chief minister in connection with the case, the Crime Branch revealed in a report.

The report further states that Sandeep was also forced to give statement against minister K T Jaleel, Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan and Bineesh Kodiyeri. The copy of the report which was submitted by the Crime Branch team in the court has come to light now.

The ED forced to give false statements in order to drag individuals who have no connection with the gold smuggling into the case. They fabricated evidences for this and the probe into this case is still progressing, it is pointed out in the report.

The complete version of Sandeep Nair’s statement is not included in the report. Only some portions of the statement were added in it. The Crime Branch team had interrogated Sandeep Nair the other day in connection with his complaint that the ED officials threatened him.
