
Kochi: Sandeep Nair, accused in gold smuggling case, has come out with a crucial revelation against the Enforcement Directorate. In a letter to the district judge, he revealed that some ED officials pressurised him to name Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the case.
A letter carrying three pages written by Sandeep Nair has come out on Friday.
The letter addressed to the district judge also revealed that the ED officials forced Sandeep Nair to also name the son of a senior politician in the controversial case.
He claimed that the officials offered him help to get bail and other matters if he acts as per their demand.
Customs had named Sandeep Nair as accused in the dollar smuggling case the other day. They also obtained permission to arrest him in the case.
At present, Sandeep Nair is in jail after being sentenced under COFEPOSA act.
Meanwhile, ED alleged conspiracy behind Sandeep Nair’s letter to the district judge. ED stated that they will examine the allegations.
Earlier, two women police officials also issued a statement against ED after gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh’s voice message came out. The women police officials claimed that the ED officials forced Swapna to give statement against the Chief Minister.
