Kochi: Sandeep Nair, who was named accused in the sensational gold smuggling case, has been turned approver in the case registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The NIA court has accepted the request of Sandeep Nair to turn approver. With this, he was granted bail in the case registered by the NIA. There are a total of five approvers including Sandeep Nair in the case.

However, Sandeep Nair will continue in the prison as he was not granted bail in the case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and COFEPOSA (Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act) exists in the case registered by the Customs.
