Thiruvananthapuram: In a first, the authorities of Thiruvananthapuram Museum and Zoo are planning to organise an auction of precious items, including gold and silver jewellery, left behind by visitors on the premises. The move offers an opportunity for enthusiasts to grab items from an alluring list of gold chains, anklets, rings, lockets among others.
As per sources, around 40 grams of gold and 146 grams of silver jewellery, which were found on the zoo and museum premises since 2018, are being kept for auction.
Usually, these are spotted by museum employees who clean the surroundings and are handed over to the control room, where they will be kept for a month. Visitors will be notified of the items and if owners turn up with claims, then it will be returned after proper verification.
Those items which remain in the control room after one month are later shifted to a cash chest. However, now, the authorities have decided to hold an auction of these items.
Anyone who wishes to participate in the auction can apply by September 8, 2023. For further details, click here.
