Nadapuram: As part of the Eid-e-Milad (Nabi Day) celebrations, the head of a sacrificial goat fetched a record price of ₹1 lakh at an auction held in Vevam, Kozhikode district. The auction, which took place the previous day near the Vevam Juma Masjid, drew a large crowd.

The children's Eid-e-Milad event was organised by the Veavam Noorul Islam Madrasa. As part of the celebration, all households in the parish were provided with a traditional feast of ghee rice and mutton.

The food distribution took place in the vicinity of the Juma Masjid. A total of 23 goats were sacrificed for the occasion, and the celebration committee decided to auction off one of the goat's heads. The auction was designed in such a way that both locals and expatriates could take part, with online bidding facilities also made available. A significant number of people participated, both from the local community and the expatriate population.

With spirited bidding on both sides, the price of the goat's head quickly soared to ₹1 lakh. At a particularly heated stage of the auction, the mahal authorities decided to bring it to a close. The winning bid came from Kuniyil Ismail, a local expatriate, who paid ₹1 lakh for the goat’s head.

The bidding had started at ₹4,000. All proceeds from the auction were used to fund the Eid-e-Milad programmes organised by the mahal committee. A large crowd had gathered to witness the lively and unique auction.
