Kollam: Kerala Congress B has split after group of rebels held a meeting in Kochi claiming that they are the official faction of the party. They alleged that Ganesh Kumar was taking decisions unilaterally.
The rebels have elected R Balakrishna Pillai's daughter Usha Mohandas as the new chairperson. They claimed that 88 of the 114 state committee members are with them. Usha Mohandas accused Ganesh of being a self-proclaimed chairman of the party.
Usha Mohandas said that after the death of her father Balakrishna Pillai, the party was in a state of disarray. She said after the meeting in Kochi that it was the compulsion of the party workers that brought her to this position. After the meeting elected the new chairperson, they claimed that they are not dissidents but official wing of the party.
The new committee stated that they will decide who should attend the next meeting of the LDF. After the meeting, the Usha Mohandas faction said that Ganesh can join their faction if he is willing to cooperate.
They also alleged that Ganesh is not acting in accordance with the party constitution. After the death of Balakrishna Pillai, Ganesh was given only the temporary charge of the new chairman, the new leadership alleged.
