Kottayam: As liquor shops are closed down amid the lockdown over coronavirus outbreak in Kerala, a man tried to commit suicide for not getting liquor here on Sunday. The man who was identified as Poovam native Sasi is in critical condition.
The incident took place before 7 am on Sunday at Changanassery PMJ complex. As he was too frustrated in not getting alcohol, he tried to end his life by jumping from the third storey of the building.
Police rushed to the spot on information by the security staff at the building and took him to the general hospital. Later, he was shifted to Kottayam medical college.
Sasi is a lottery ticket seller in Changanassery.
