The trailer of 'Lockdown', a tense, woman-centric drama featuring actress Anupama Parameswaran in the lead, was unveiled on Thursday by actors Vijay Sethupathi and Sasikumar.

Sharing the launch on X, Vijay Sethupathi wrote, “Launching the Trailer of #Lockdown. Best wishes to the team.” Sasikumar added, “Happy to unveil the Trailer of #Lockdown. Dive into a world of fear, truth, and survival. Wishing the whole team grand success.”

Directed by AR Jeeva and inspired by real events, the film follows the character of Anitha, portrayed by Parameswaran, whose life takes a dark turn during the 21-day nationwide COVID-19 lockdown.

The trailer opens with Anitha expressing fear about returning home, signalling a disturbing issue she is unable to share with her family. As unwanted advances from men heighten her anxiety, the sudden nationwide lockdown forces her to remain at home, turning her fear into a daily battle.

Her odd behaviour soon worries her parents, as she is seen glued to her phone, losing her temper frequently and desperately attempting to contact a doctor, who is later revealed to be in isolation after contracting COVID.

The situation intensifies when Anitha begins calling her friends to borrow money, leaving her parents confused and alarmed. The trailer culminates with Anitha tearfully apologising to her father, hinting at a painful secret at the heart of the film.

'Lockdown' is produced by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions and features a large supporting cast including Charlie, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Sabha Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh and Asha.

Music is composed by NR Raghunanthan and Siddharth Vipin, with cinematography by KA Sakthivel, editing by VJ Sabu Joseph and art direction by A Jayakumar. Sherif and Sri Girish handle choreography, while stunts are designed by Om Sivaprakash. Costumes are by Meenakshi Shreedharan.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release on December 5.
