Malappuram: A bomb threat was received at Karipur Airport on Tuesday morning via email. The Airport Authority later confirmed that investigations revealed the threat to be a hoax. They also stated that efforts to trace the origin of the email have been intensified.
The threat message was sent to the official email address of the Karipur Airport Authority. The police were immediately informed upon receiving the email. A thorough inspection was subsequently carried out under the supervision of both the police and airport officials.
It has been reported that the threat did not disrupt any flight services.
This follows a spate of bomb threat emails sent to various locations across Kerala over the past three weeks. While most have proven to be hoaxes, they have triggered major concern among security agencies.
