The boy and his family had returned from Goa on August 31 night. They had consumed shawarma from the canteen at Madgaon railway station. Anirudh suffered from fever and fatigue on the return journey. After arriving at Thiruvananthapuram, the entire family ate ‘Kuzhi Mandi’ from a hotel at Thaikad.

After falling sick, the boy was first admitted to a private hospital in Malayam. On September 2, he was shifted to the Thaikkad maternity and children’s hospital. Anirudh was discharged from hospital after the doctor’s approval.

However, in a sad turn of events, the boy breathed his last on Monday morning while being taken to the Sasthamangalam hospital following persistent illness.

Besides his parents, Anirudh was accompanied by his elder brother Anakesh and grandparents Gopinath and Vasanthakumari (Kerala Police) in their family trip to Goa. After the medical procedures, the boy’s body was cremated in Thaikkad.
