Thrissur: The food safety department has temporarily suspended the licence of the Indian Coffee House operating in the Thrissur Medical College campus. The department also suspended two food safety officials for permitting it to function in unhygienic conditions.
Earlier, Minister Veena George directed Food Safety Commissioner to initiate a high-level probe over a complaint received regarding the functioning of the Indian Coffee House. A raid conducted here corroborated the claims in the complaint.
It was also found that the officials concerned allowed the Indian Coffee House to operate without clearance from the local body. The officials also permitted the outlet to operate despite several complaints, said reports
Meanwhile, Indian Coffee House staff dismissed the allegations and maintained that the outlet maintains cleanliness and does not serve stale food.
