Thrissur: A new app called ‘Fizzmo’ has been launched to help parents understand and support their children’s emotional growth. The app aims to identify children’s emotional intelligence levels and provide guidance to parents in nurturing confidence, empathy and better communication skills.
In today’s busy lifestyle, many parents struggle to spend enough time understanding their children’s emotional needs. While academic performance often gives parents an idea about their child’s intelligence level, assessing emotional development can be more difficult.
Fizzmo is the idea of two young entrepreneurs — Parvathy Venugopal, a psychology research student from Kaloor, Ernakulam, and Aravind Menon, a technology professional from Puthur, Palakkad. The app was launched at Koratty Infopark in Thrissur.
“Lack of time is a major problem for parents these days in emotionally understanding and supporting their children. Often, children facing various pressures do not receive help in resolving them in the new family environment. That's how we arrived at the idea of an ‘EQ app’,” said Parvathy Venugopal.
Fizzmo measures emotional growth through short questions that encourage interaction between children and parents. The app analyses responses, evaluates emotional skills and provides guidance to help parents better understand their children.
The app is designed for children aged three to 16 years. In its first phase, Fizzmo is available for children in the three to five age group.
The platform uses short games, emotional stories and books to help children understand their own emotions, strengths and weaknesses. It also focuses on improving skills such as managing emotions like anger and sadness, responding thoughtfully, understanding others’ feelings, communicating effectively and solving problems.
The developers believe the app can help bridge the gap between parents and children by offering insights into emotional needs and supporting healthier relationships. Fizzmo aims to help parents create a more supportive environment where children can grow with confidence and emotional awareness.
