Thodupuzha: The father of the girl who was brutally raped and murdered in Vandiperiyar in 2021 was stabbed by a relative of the accused. The accused had recently been acquitted of charges by a special fast track court in Kattappana, sparking widespread public outrage.

The incident happened at the Pashumalamoodu junction when the victim’s father and grandfather were returning after attending a death ceremony.

The miscreant Shanmughan, who is Arjun’s (accused in rape case) father’s brother, is said to have picked up an argument with the girl’s father eventually resulting in the stabbing incident.

The injured person has been admitted to the Vandiperiyar government hospital.
