New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will virtually inaugurate the fast-track immigration clearance system at five more airports across India, including Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode, on Thursday.
The system provides expedited clearance for verified Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI). It was first implemented at Kochi airport last year.
In addition to Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode, the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) will be rolled out at Tiruchirappalli, Amritsar, and Lucknow airports. The program was first launched in July 2024 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and later expanded to Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad airports in September 2024.
The FTI-TTP allows international travellers to receive expedited immigration clearance via e-gates. Modelled after the US Global Entry program, the initiative is planned to be implemented at 21 airports across India.
