MLA Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan receives WhatsApp virtual arrest threat over alleged crime linked to his Aadhaar and phone number.

Kottayam: MLA Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan received a virtual arrest threat via WhatsApp. The caller claimed to be from the Mumbai Police and threatened Radhakrishnan over a case allegedly registered in Mumbai.
The caller alleged that a crime had been committed using Radhakrishnan’s Aadhaar card number and phone number, and that the call was related to that matter. Since the caller spoke in a mixture of Hindi and broken English, Radhakrishnan immediately realised it was a scam, he told the media. One of the callers was reportedly impersonating a police officer, which was noticed by members of Thiruvanchur’s staff.
Following the threat, Radhakrishnan filed a complaint with the State Police Chief. The DGP’s office confirmed that an investigation has begun, focusing on the number and location from which the calls were made. The Cyber Cell is handling the probe into the scam.
