Kochi: The newly introduced Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Special Train (06001/06002) saw a good response from passengers, with nearly half of the tickets booked within the first day of booking. The booking for the train departing from Ernakulam South commenced on Saturday, and the Railways announced that bookings from Bengaluru Cantonment station would begin on Sunday.
The service will be operated as a special train from July 31 to August 25. The service will run three days a week.

The first service from Ernakulam to Bengaluru will be on July 31 and the first service from Bengaluru to Ernakulam is scheduled on August 1. The service is operated from Ernakulam on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The service from Bengaluru will run on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays.
The train is scheduled to leave Ernakulam at 12:50 pm and reach Bengaluru Cantonment station at 10 pm. Consequently, the train will leave Bengaluru Cantonment at 5:30 am the next day and reach Ernakulam at 2:20 pm. There will be stops at ten stations. There has been a demand for Vande Bharat on the Bengaluru- Ernakulam route owing to the large number of passengers. However, some passengers have raised concerns over the service during the day. The Railways responded by saying that this issue will resolved only when the sleeper Vande Bharat arrives.

This train is expected to bring relief to the Onam season rush. If passengers are steady, the train service is likely to continue.
It is estimated that around 50000 people travel on the Bengaluru route during holiday season. Buses, including Kerala and Karnataka RTC, also join the railways to introduce special services during the holiday season.
Ticket prices in sleeper buses reach up to Rs 5000 during Onam and Christmas.
