Alappuzha: Traffic restrictions have been imposed on the Ernakulam-Alappuzha National Highway on September 19 due to the ongoing construction of an elevated highway. The measures are necessary as the tiling work on the road, from the area north of the Aroor Temple up to Aroor Palli, is expected to cause traffic disruptions starting Thursday.

Alternate Routes for Commuters

  • Motorists travelling from Arookutty towards Ernakulam are advised to take a free left turn at the Aroor junction, followed by a U-turn to proceed towards Ernakulam.
  • Those heading from Ernakulam to Alappuzha are directed to divert through Kundannoor, continuing via Tripunithura, Puthiyakavu, Udayamperoor, Vaikom, Thanneermukkom, or alternatively, they can take the coastal route through Beach Road, Pallithode, and Chellanam.
  • Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to cross from either the Ernakulam or Alappuzha side to the Aroor area under any circumstances.
  • Commuters travelling from Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam towards Thrissur should use the MC or AC Road to bypass the affected area.
