Kannur: Police have recorded the statement of CPM central committee member E P Jayarajan at his residence in Keecheri here as part of a detailed investigation into the autobiography controversy.

Kottayam SP Shahul Hameed earlier confirmed that a preliminary inquiry had begun based on a complaint filed by Jayarajan regarding the release of an autobiography purportedly attributed to him. The SP had also stated that Jayarajan's statement would be recorded if required.

As part of the investigation, the police have decided to record the statement of Ravi DC, the CEO of DC Books. They are also examining whether there was any agreement between E P Jayarajan and DC Books regarding the publication of his autobiography.

The police have already recorded the statements of two employees from DC Books regarding the publication agreement. These employees reportedly claimed they were unaware of any such agreement. The police plan to seek further clarification from Ravi DC on the matter.

A key question raised by E P Jayarajan is how the PDF version of the book, spanning 178 pages, was leaked. Jayarajan has expressed suspicions of a conspiracy in the leak. The police are also investigating the circumstances under which the PDF was leaked and are gathering information, including from journalists.

Efforts are underway to identify who accessed the PDF and from where.
