The free medical treatment for endosulfan victims has been interrupted at Mangalore Hospital for three months. The hospital authorities informed them that the treatment has been halted as the government hasn't made the payment to the hospital.

The treatment expenses and bills were settled with the hospitals by the government of Kerala. The expense incurred in the previous year is estimated to be one crore. The government has not yet provided financial assistance and cleared bills, so the hospitals in Mangalore have become reluctant to treat endosulfan patients.

Patients from various parts of Kasargod who visited the hospital for treatment, unaware of this, had to return without receiving treatment. Three hospitals at Kasturba Medical College provide free treatment to endosulfan patients.

Although the Kerala government had to renew the contract every year and clear the bills of that particular year, the expenses of the year 2023 have not yet been settled, nor have they renewed the contract.

As per the discussion held in March regarding this, it was mentioned that the payment would be made. Officials had informed that the delay in payment was due to elections.

Out of 6,000 patients, over 1000 rely on Mangalore hospitals for their treatments. 17 hospitals—14 government hospitals from Kerala and 3 from Karnataka—provide free treatment and care to endosulfan patients.

The endosulfan victims have been struggling without medicine and medical care for months due to interruptions in treatment. Facilities like vehicles that transported patients to the hospitals are also not available now.
