Thiruvananthapuram:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for several regions across Kerala, prompting district administrations to take precautionary measures. With intense rainfall already being reported in different parts of the state, authorities have declared a holiday for educational institutions in nine districts on Friday.
District collectors of Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Thrissur, Palakkad, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta have announced a one-day closure of schools and other educational establishments, citing safety concerns due to persistent rain.
Localised holiday in Alappuzha
In Alappuzha district, the Kuttanad taluk has also declared a holiday for all educational institutions. This decision has been made in view of the increasing rainfall and potential risk of flooding in the region.
