Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is reportedly questioning close allies of former minister AC Moideen in connection with money laundering involved in the Karuvannur bank scam.

Thrissur corporation councillor Anoop Davis Cada and Wadakkanchery municipality health standing committee chairman PR Aravindakshan, who are trusted allies of the veteran CPM leader, were quizzed on Thursday. The main purpose was to identify whether the duo had any role to play in the benami transactions that were sanctioned at Karuvannur Bank.

It should be noted that PR Aravindakshan’s name came up while digging into the transactions of P Satheesh Kumar who was arrested for his alleged role in the Karuvannur scam. The investigating officials are pondering whether the benami loans availed by Satheesh Kumar had been routed to political bigwigs with the aid of Cada and Aravindakshan.

ED summoned Cada to ask about certain transactions made by him. The questioning continued late into the night.
