Kasaragod: In a move aimed at improving last-mile connectivity for train passengers, Indian Railways is set to introduce an electric scooter rental service at 15 stations between Kasaragod and Pollachi. The initiative, which has already been contracted out in Mangaluru, will allow travellers to rent e-scooters directly from railway stations, making onward travel more convenient.
The service will be rolled out at a mix of major and smaller stations, including Kozhikode, Kannur, Tirur, Feroke, Parappanangadi, and Nilambur. Passengers will be able to rent the electric two-wheelers on an hourly or daily basis, with document verification — including Aadhaar and driving licence checks — required for all users.
As part of the project, the Railways will allocate designated space at the stations for parking and managing the e-scooters.
This new offering builds on similar rental services already operational at Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam stations under the Thiruvananthapuram division.
Stations with e-scooter rentals:
Pollachi, Ottapalam, Nilambur, Kozhikode, Tirur, Feroke, Parappanangadi, Vatakara, Mahe, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad, Kasaragod, and Mangaluru Junction.
