Thiruvananthapuram: Many users, including those in Kerala, who paid traffic fines online through the ‘e-challan’ portal have reported losing their money. Payments debited from their bank accounts are not being recorded on the system, which displays a message asking users to pay again. The system for reviewing incomplete transactions on the portal is unresponsive, adding to their frustration.
The ‘e-challan’ portal, managed by the central government, handles fines issued by the police and motor vehicle departments. Issues with the ‘Vahan’ software have been troubling applicants for the past two weeks. The problem with the e-challan portal comes after the software resumed normal operations.
As a result, many users have had to pay their fines again at RT offices and e-POS machines in police mobile patrol vehicles to complete their transactions.
Transport Commissioner Nagaraju Chakilam has directed officials to address the issue and ensure a smooth resolution.
