Kozhikode: Vadakara DySP A Umesh has been suspended over allegations that he molested a young woman who had been taken into custody in an immorality case. The State Police Chief suspended him after finding prima facie evidence of serious misconduct.

The allegation resurfaced after the suicide note of Cherpulassery SHO Binu Thomas, who died by suicide a few days ago, levelled grave accusations against Umesh. The note stated that the incident took place 11 years ago, when Umesh was serving as CI at the Wadakkanchery Police Station and Binu was the SI.

After the reference in the suicide note, the Palakkad District Crime Branch DySP launched an investigation and recorded the woman’s statement. She confirmed that the allegation mentioned in Binu Thomas’ note was true.
