Palakkad: Youth Congress and DYFI activists stormed the venue of a Skill Development Centre inauguration for the intellectually challenged, located within the Palakkad municipality, in protest against naming the Centre after K.B. Hedgewar, the founder of the RSS.
The protesting youth organisations raised objections against the BJP-ruled municipality for naming the centre after K.B. Hedgewar, the founder of the RSS.
The centre is planned to be built on 30 cents of land within the Palakkad municipal limits. Municipal Chairperson Prameela Devi stated that there is nothing wrong with naming the centre after Hedgewar. The project is being funded through a corporate donation of ₹1.5 crore from a private company.
As the protest by Youth Congress and DYFI workers turned violent, police were forced to intervene and use force to bring the situation under control.
