A Dubai-registered car with a modified, fire-spitting exhaust caused a stir in Kochi, leading to a Motor Vehicles Department investigation.

Kochi: A Dubai-registered car roaring through the streets of Kochi with terrifying, fire-spitting exhaust noises has sparked an investigation by the Motor Vehicles Department.
The vehicle was spotted in the Edappally area, and videos of the car tearing through the roads have gone viral on social media.
The Motor Vehicles Department is probing the excessive noise levels and whether the car has been illegally modified.
Authorities are particularly focused on the use of aftermarket parts that may be responsible for the loud exhaust and fire-spitting effects. Such modifications violate Motor Vehicles regulations and are subject to strict penalties, including restrictions imposed by the High Court on vehicle alterations.
Cars imported from foreign countries for short-term use in India are also required to comply with local laws.
The Dubai-registered vehicle in the viral video is currently under investigation to verify whether it violates any regulations.
Further action by the authorities will depend on the findings of this investigation.
