Thiruvananthapuram: Learner’s driving license lessons will be switched to online mode considering the Covid restrictions. The questions will be based on online video footages. The applicants should watch the online video within 7 days of applying. The video can be watched using a special ID given to the applicants. Then the online test should be attended within 7 days.
The video footage will be based on traffic signals, safe driving and responsibilities of driving. Those who secure 60 percent marks can appear for driving test. The central government issued an order implementing the new system. The authorities informed that the new arrangement will come into force as soon as the driving license distribution system ‘Sarathi’ is changed.
The learner’s test and traffic awareness classes of the Motor Vehicle Department were stopped recently following the Covid outbreak. The online facility is implemented replacing the old method. Those who are renewing driving license need not appear for learner’s test. Also those who learn driving from recognised driver training institutes need not obtain learner’s license.
A 10-day special training is mandatory for driving E-Rickshaw. They have to produce a course certificate from recognised institutes to apply for license. Those who wants to make alterations to vehicles also can apply via online. Vehicle manufacturer, showrooms and recognised workshops have been granted permission to alter vehicles.
