New Delhi: Former DGP Jacob Thomas said that no shreds of evidence were found against him in connection with the probe into the Dredger Scam case. He alleged that the case registered against him was a vindictive act for booking cases against senior officials during his tenure as Vigilance director. In an affidavit filed in Supreme Court, he called the findings of the Vigilance department 'illogical.'
Former DGP also asked the apex court to dismiss the petition filed by parties, including State Government, against Kerala High Court rejecting the Vigilance case filed against him.
The case is unnecessary. The dredger was bought by the unanimous decision of the department purchase committee comprising three government representatives. However, a case was registered only against me. I was also accused of conspiring. It is not logical to even say that I conspired alone and involved in corruption, he said in the affidavit submitted in court.
Earlier, a vigilance probe revealed corruption in the procurement of dredger from Holland during the tenure of Jacob Thomas as Port Department director.
