Thiruvananthapuram: The draft Kerala School Curriculum Framework has proposed increasing the minimum educational qualification from Class 10 to Class 12. The school curriculum is undergoing comprehensive revision after a period of 15 years.

The draft also recommended revising the academics in such a way as to give priority to vocational studies at the higher secondary level.

Furthermore, the draft recommends dividing the school curriculum of Class 11 and 12 studies into Language, Core and Vocational. Students should be able to choose which subjects they want to study, both compulsory and elective.

The draft also recommends changes to first and second-grade classes, while subject-specific learning is prioritised from third grade onwards. Self-study and collaborative learning are also recommended. 

From 8th to 12th standard, the student's interests and aptitude will be given more preference. Languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, and Odia will also be included in the curriculum. 

Core subjects include social studies, environmental studies, science, mathematics, health and sports studies, arts, agriculture, biotechnology, geology, commerce, accountancy and among others.

Recommended topics include linguistics, geriatrics, disaster management, nanotechnology, anthropology and artificial intelligence.
