Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi has expressed strong displeasure over repeated controversies in the Congress party at the district level.

Kalpetta: Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi has voiced strong dissatisfaction over a series of controversies in the Congress party at the district level, reportedly urging the KPCC leadership to dissolve the local leadership and remove District Congress Committee president ND Appachan.
Party sources said Priyanka expressed displeasure over repeated disputes, including the death of Mullankolli gram panchayat member Jose Nelledam and corruption allegations. She is also said to have complained that controversies seem to arise every time she visits her constituency.
During her last visit, Priyanka had raised concerns over the suicides of Congress leader N.M. Vijayan and his son, as well as over financial irregularities and corruption charges. She has now expressed unhappiness that the situation has only worsened.
Priyanka had earlier criticised the lack of progress in the Mundakkai–Chooralmala rehabilitation project, highlighting delays in land acquisition and alleging incompetence in the district leadership. She has accused local leaders of failing to resolve grievances or intervene effectively.
The KPCC has been considering leadership changes across several districts, but Priyanka has reportedly demanded that Wayanad be prioritised, even if other changes are delayed. Appachan, who did not attend any of her programmes during her latest visit, is said to be at risk of immediate replacement.
Names under consideration for the post include KPCC secretary and Kalpetta municipal president T.J. Isaac, and KPCC member and Meenangadi panchayat president K.E. Vinayan.
