In Kerala, SSLC certificate has relevance as it serves as the authentic document for the confirmation of the applicant’s residence, local body, taluk and also the grace marks received during the academic period

Haripad: As the Kerala state SSLC certificates are not yet available in the DigiLocker system, the Plus One admission for the students who completed Class 10 on Kerala State Syllabus is now in uncertainty.
In Kerala, SSLC certificate has relevance as it serves as the authentic document for the confirmation of the applicant’s residence, local body, taluk and also the grace marks received during the academic period. As these data are not available now, confirming students' eligibility and completing admission is still a problem.
In previous years, the State syllabus Class 10 certificate could be obtained from DigiLocker following the declaration of the CBSE results before the Plus One admission date.
The certificate that can be downloaded from the Department of Education’s website provides only general information on the student like name, date of birth, parents names and the grades acquired in various subjects only. But the document from the Digi Locker is the exact copy of the SSLC certificate.
For the reserved castes other than SC, ST, OEC, the SSLC certificate is sufficient to prove their caste.
The Plus One admission’s first allotment procedure is till Thursday 5pm. Hence by the time the applicants obtain relevant documents from the village office for the admission, the process will be over.
Two bonus points will be given to the students when applying to a school within their own local body limits and one point if it is in the same taluk. Similarly, residents of gram panchayats without aided schools are entitled to two bonus points if they apply to a school in the same taluk.
All these information are available in the SSLC certificate. So, those who studied in the state syllabus did not have to produce a separate certificate for the purpose.
As per the Rule, the original documents that qualify for bonus points must be produced at the time of admission.
School authorities also pointed out that if the admission of those who fail to produce the required documents is legally challenged, it could lead to a crisis.
