Thodupuzha: 14 people, including Dean Kuriakose MP, have been booked by the police for violating lockdown norms. The case has been filed for mobilizing people while staging a protest in Idukki Medical College.
The protest was staged demanding to stop the step motherly treatment handed out to Idukki district by the state government and also approving a PCR lab for conducting sample tests in Idukki. A lot of people took part in this protest, leading to Dean Kuriakose MP and 14 others being booked.
Apart from Dean Kuriakose, Idukki DCC president, DCC secretaries have also been booked. The case was filed as per Epidemic Diseases Act. Meanwhile, Dean Kuriakose alleged that the Chief Minister was taking revenge on him for criticizing the government.
Dean said that he does not take the case seriously and that LDF government has taken so many cases against him in the past as well.
He added that not more than 5 people took part in the protest. If the police decides to file case by adding all the people who visited the hospital at different hours, let it be. The case was filed for staging a protest for the sake of the public. This government has filed many cases at different police stations in the state. The Idukki MP said that he does not mind one more case filed against him.
