New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has announced that byelections to the vacant Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in Kerala will take place on November 13. This announcement was made on Tuesday, along with the dates for assembly elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. The counting of votes will be conducted on November 23.

Rahul Gandhi, who won from both Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and Wayanad in Kerala in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has resigned from Wayanad, opting to retain Rae Bareli and thereby paving the way for a byelection in Wayanad. Indications suggest that Priyanka Gandhi will be the UDF candidate in Wayanad.

In the Lok Sabha elections, two MLAs—Shafi Parambil of the Congress and K. Radhakrishnan of the CPM—won from the Vadakara and Alathur constituencies, respectively, creating the need for byelections in the Palakkad and Chelakkara assembly constituencies.
